About Us

Our Story

Our shared passion for aiding children who have been hospitalized stems from the circumstances our team and their families have experienced. Through personal experience, we have come to realize the importance of quality medical care while a child is hospitalized. With the sheer amount of children in need, it is crucial that we do our part in making the best out of their experiences. We primarily reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and our team is student-led.

Our Mission

Millions of children across the nation are hospitalized for various health conditions. It is our mission to provide additional funding to the Beaumont Children's Hospital in order to ensure that children receive higher quality care and treatments. Each plushie purchased results in a matching plushie donated to the Beaumont Children's Hospital as well as a direct donation.

Our Team

 Operation Manager

Alex Siu

Hey, my name is Alex Siu and I am part of the Bloomfield Hills class of 2023. I was hospitalized with Guillain Barre Syndrome my freshman year and it truly changed my life. My experience living and recovering from the illness has led me to start this student-led initiative to work towards better experiences for children in hospitals. In my free time, I enjoy working out, spending time with my friends and family, and investing. I am excited to aid those in need and improve the experiences of those who are hospitalized.

Production Manager

Emma Doerr

Hi, my name is Emma Doerr and I am a part of the Bloomfield Hills class of 2023. I self-taught myself how to crochet a little over two years ago and have been pursuing the hobby ever since. I love creating new animals and objects and perfecting crochet patterns. But most of all, I want to share my creations with others. I crochet stuffed animals for many family members and friends and I love nothing more than to see their appreciation for a handmade gift. I love reading, crocheting, and listening to music! I couldn’t be more excited to create more plushies for others!

Max Murphy

Hi, My name is Max Murphy and I'm part of the Bloomfield Hills class of 2023. I grew up in a family of doctors and have learned the importance of helping those fighting diseases. I spend my free time going to the gym, working as a sailing instructor, skiing, and spending time with friends and family. I cannot wait to share our organization with as many people as I can reach. I think that Power in Plushies can be so much more than it already is.

Sales Manager

Bowie Cooper

Hi, my name is Bowie Cooper. I go to Bloomfield Hills High School and I'm a part of the Class of 2023. Many people that I love, my friends and family, have been hospitalized due to illnesses and disease. I know how traumatic and difficult the experience of being hospitalized can be for the patients and the people closest to them. These small acts of kindness are what keep people going when they're struggling. In my free time, I love to play chess, listen to music, and swim. I'm so excited to help as much as I can and make a positive impact on the community surrounding us.

Marlee Watson

Hi, I'm Marlee Watson and I'm part of the Bloomfield Hills class of 2023! I joined this organization because nothing brings me more joy than seeing the smile on a child’s face. By being able to provide them with a plushie, they can earn a sense of security and support from their community, which brings me much comfort in knowing I am helping these kids to feel loved and that they are never alone. In my free time, I love spending my time outside. Whether it’s taking a walk with my dog, taking a hike, swimming in my pool, or even playing lacrosse and field hockey, I like to stay active.

Ilana Watson

Small acts of kindness, like handing out plushies to children who are hospitalized, can go a long way. For this reason, I am very thrilled to be part of this organization. In my free time, I enjoy being outside. Playing field hockey and lacrosse, and going on hikes and nature walks with my dogs are some of my favorite activities.

Mack Koopman

Hello, my name is Mack Koopman and I am a part of Zeeland East’s class of 2023. During freshman year I was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called Primary HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis). One of my favorite things in the hospital was receiving stuffed animals and other small gifts to keep my spirits up. When I heard about this group I instantly wanted to be a part of it the thought of giving kids in the hospital like me stuffed animals brought a smile to my face and I instantly jumped on the opportunity. I enjoy hanging out with friends playing football and wakeboarding in my free time. I’m excited to be a part of the team and help bring these plush toys to kids who are in tough spots.
